United Online Launches Inaugural High-Speed Internet Service

Juno Broadband Now Available for Indianapolis and Nashville-Area Comcast Cable Customers

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., May 30, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- United Online, Inc. (Nasdaq:UNTD), a leading provider of value-priced Internet access through its NetZero and Juno Internet services, today announced the launch of Juno Broadband service in Indianapolis, IN and Nashville, TN over Comcast Cable Communications Inc.'s cable systems. This rollout marks the first time United Online will offer broadband access over Comcast's cable systems and provides a template for a subsequent national rollout of United Online's Juno and NetZero high-speed Internet services in areas served by the country's third largest cable company.

There are two pricing plans available for Juno's high-speed Internet service, Juno Basic Broadband and Juno Platinum Broadband. Juno Basic Broadband is priced at $39.95 per month and includes a Juno Free dial-up account. Juno Platinum Broadband is priced at $44.90 per month and includes a Juno Platinum dial-up account -- a savings of $60.00 per year if the $9.95 Platinum dial-up service were purchased separately. Both services require a one-time activation fee of $49.95. If the user does not have a cable modem or their existing modem is not compatible with the Juno Broadband Service, users can rent a modem for $5.00 per month.

In addition to their broadband access, many users also require a dial-up Internet service for use when traveling or when they are away from their broadband connection. By bundling Juno dial-up service along with the Juno Broadband service, a subscriber will have the added convenience of accessing the same email address whether using their broadband or dial-up account.

For details on how to sign-up for the Juno Broadband service, go to www.junobroadband.com.

Juno Platinum Broadband and Juno Basic Broadband features include:

 -- High-speed Internet access
-- The ability to quickly download music, videos, and sporting events
-- The ability for current Juno users to maintain their Juno email
    address
 -- Customer service available 24/7
 -- A 30-day, money back guarantee

"Consumers who choose the Juno Broadband service will benefit from always-on, competitively priced high-speed access, and current Juno members who upgrade to the Broadband service will get the added benefit of maintaining their current Juno email address," said Mark R. Goldston, chairman, president and CEO of United Online. "Millions of Internet users have made the switch to our free and value-priced Internet services because of the quality of the dial-up services we offer. We are pleased to now be offering residents of Indianapolis and Nashville high-quality broadband service over the Comcast cable system."

"Comcast is pleased to now provide customers a choice of Internet service providers with the launch of United Online's Juno Broadband service in our Indianapolis and Nashville systems," said Steve Burke, president of Comcast Cable. "We first announced our plans to work with United Online earlier this year and are delighted that the launch of this service is right on schedule."
