FLS miljø's global air pollution control business to be transferred to F.L.Smidth Group

As part of the ongoing restructuring of FLS miljø it has today been decided to transfer FLS miljø's global air pollution control business (APC), to F.L.Smidth Group with effect from 1 July 2002. The main markets of APC, which has an annual turnover close to 1bn Danish kroner, are the cement, processing and power generating industries. The transfer of APC from FLS miljø to F.L.Smidth Group will have no effect on FLS Industries' earnings forecast for 2002.

As a result of this restructure, all the specialist product companies will in future be part of one strong corporate entity, bringing about an enhanced level of service to the Group's key customers in the markets served. The transfer will also provide a stronger platform for offering customers complete service and maintenance solutions comprising all phases of production including environmental aspects, this being a market from which F.L.Smidth Group expects to derive a steadily growing portion of its sales and earnings in the coming years.

The transfer involves the some 450 APC employees in Denmark, UK, France, Spain and USA. The APC business will be organised as a separate company within F.L.Smidth Group headed by its present top manager, Mr Thomas Otterberg. Organisationally, the company, which will be named F.L.Smidth Airtech A/S, will rank equally with the other F.L.Smidth Group product specialists: F.L.Smidth Materials Handling, FLS Automation, Ventomatic, FFE Minerals, Pfister Holding, MAAG Gear and Bhagwati Designs.
