Stockholmsborsen Rejects Demand for VAT Repayment

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, June 20, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Stockholmsborsen has today received a writ from 20 banks and brokerages concerning a demand for the refund of value added tax paid during the years 1993-2000.

In the opinion of Stockholmsborsen, the claims made by the banks and brokerages lack foundation because, among other considerations, the banks and brokerages in question had already received compensation for the increased cost represented by the payment of VAT. Accordingly, Stockholmsborsen rejects all of the claims.

In total, the claims made by the banks and brokerages amount to approximately SEK 180 million plus interest. At the present time, the writ does not warrant the posting of any provisions in the financial accounts of OM, Stockholmsborsen's Parent Company.
