Unicon Group sells paving stone business in Poland

Unicon Group has today signed an agreement with a Polish investor and Tarmac Group - part of Anglo American Plc - to sell its paving stone activities in Poland. Subject to approval of the Polish Competition authorities the sale becomes effective on 31 July 2002. Unicon Group's paving stone business in Poland has an annual turnover of some 125m Danish kroner and employs 140 people at three production sites - two plants in Warsaw and one in Katowice.

The disposal of Unicon Group's paving stone business in Poland should be viewed against the overall FLS Group strategy of focusing and concentrating the Group's resources on core competencies as well as the derived strategy of Unicon Group to concentrate its activities on the manufacture and development of ready-mixed concrete.

Unicon has previously disposed of its concrete product activities in Spain, its concrete block and paving stone business in the U.S and its concrete pipe and paving stone activities in Denmark.

The disposal of the paving stone activities in Poland will influence the EBIT result negatively with less than 10m Danish kroner and will consequently not affect the previously announced earnings forecast for the FLS Group significantly.
