Northrop Grumman Awarded OBOGS Contract for Embraer's F-5BR Aircraft

DAVENPORT, Iowa, Jan. 20, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) announced today that its Life Support business unit has received a contract from Embraer Services Inc. to provide On-Board Oxygen Generating System (OBOGS) to the Brazilian Air Force's fleet of F-5 BR aircraft.

The system has significant life cycle cost advantages over liquid oxygen systems, including no required depot-level maintenance, no daily service requirements, and no costly liquid oxygen system infrastructure. Life Support's pressure-swing absorption concept uses two molecular sieve-filled beds to generate oxygen-enriched breathing gas on board the aircraft, and eliminates the burden of re-supplying liquid oxygen.

The $1.8 million contract will supply Life Support's OBOGS through 2005. Embraer Services is a wholly owned subsidiary of Embraer -- Empresa Brasileira De Aeronautica, a military aircraft manufacturer located in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
