Kemira'S Pigment plant in pori BACK IN PRODUCTION again with TWO THIRDS OF CAPACITY

On 4 February 2003 a fire broke out and destroyed about 3,000 m2 of the roof structure of a calcination line at Kemira's Pori plant. There were no injuries to personnel. At this stage it is too early to estimate damages to property or losses to production. Insurance will cover for the damage to property and financial losses.

Two thirds of the plant's capacity is back in production again. The estimated downtime of the damaged calciner is one week. The stock of finished product was not damaged in the fire and deliveries to customers can be continued without interruptions.

Kemira's Pori plant produces titanium dioxide pigments for paints, printing inks and plastics. Over 90% of production is exported.
