True Patriotism: The Fight Against Corruption -- New thriller tells story of elite secret circle in government and the fight to stop it

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., May 6, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Four senators, two Army generals, a navy admiral, a member of the justice department and two additional Congressmen have aligned to form what is known as the "Ten Little Indians." In Carl Smith's new book, Fringe Patriots (now available through 1stBooks), these people accumulate massive amounts of wealth and power in the United States. Their reigning days are numbered; true patriots are fighting to stop their treachery and murder.

Clay Smith is first pulled into the Ten Little Indians world by his commanding officer in the military, who is the chief of the Ten Little Indians. Smith, a young man identified to have special gifts, is trained by this colonel to be an assassin. Realizing the wrong that is taking place, he joins a United States Senator from Minnesota, a naval doctor and two young women to take on the most powerful elite circle in the world.

The malicious acts of the Ten Little Indians give them control, in part, of the stock market and the chief executive officers of the world's most influential companies. Government bids go to their "pick of the litter." Smith's eclectic group takes on a series of 20 murders, most of which have been staged to look like suicides. They fight diligently against those who, with arrogance, manipulate the holdings, wealth and power of those they have killed.

Set in the 1960s, Fringe Patriots is a suspenseful story of true patriotism. Clay is framed for murder, but fights back. With the help of the senator and a renowned reporter for the Washington Post, a staged suicide at the close of this thriller leaves the reader breathless and the Indians deflated.

Smith is an Army veteran. Serving during the Berlin Wall crisis, the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War, he spent the 1960s in government service. After putting that life behind him, Smith has had a successful career as hotelier, president of two corporations and CEO and founder of another corporation. This is his first book.
