FHB to Offer Cardinal Centinel(tm) to their Internet Merchants; Both MasterCard(r) SecureCode(tm) and Verified by Visa to be Enabled

MENTOR, Ohio , June 2, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- CardinalCommerce Corporation and First Hawaiian Bank have announced their partnership today. First Hawaiian Bank will offer CardinalCommerce's payment authentication software, Cardinal Centinel, to the bank's online merchant customers. First Hawaiian Bank is a principal subsidiary of BancWest Corporation, the largest Hawaii-based company, with total assets of $34.9 billion. BancWest is a wholly owned subsidiary of BNP Paribas.

CardinalCommerce is the leading provider of online merchant payment authentication for securing online transactions. Cardinal Centinel is designed for acquiring banks, merchant service providers and their merchants. The software reduces the level of online fraudulent transactions and guarantees payment to online merchants who use it, while protecting the accounts of cardholders.

"Cardinal Centinel is an excellent payment authentication solution for our merchants," stated Gary Fujitani, senior vice president of First Hawaiian Bank. "The opportunity for our merchants to gain the benefits of both MasterCard(r) SecureCode(tm) and Verified by Visa in one simple, low-cost solution is very attractive and unique."

CardinalCommerce's software enables multi-factor authentication to definitively identify individuals and reduces fraud. The software also features an audit trail that issuers may use for validation. Its flexible technology-neutral architecture will recognize and use today's authentication systems, including a cardholder's username and password, hardware signature (Machine ID), smart cards, digital certificates, biometrics, and even mobile or wireless devices. This allows consumers the freedom of shopping safely and securely online in whichever mode they prefer.

"Partnering with First Hawaiian Bank is a significant milestone for CardinalCommerce" stated Kendall Myles, senior vice president of merchant services, for CardinalCommerce. "Our software continues to be deployed around the world, and the Hawaiian Islands are no exception. First Hawaiian's strong connection with the Asia Pacific region makes them an ideal partner for Cardinal."
