DTAC launches mobile multimedia services developed by the DTAC-Nokia EASY Application Factory further advancing Thailand's mobile industry

Total Access Communication (DTAC), Thailand's leading Mobile Multimedia Service provider have today launched DTAC Streaming, the first mobile multimedia service jointly developed by DTAC and Nokia in the DTAC-Nokia EASY Application Factory.

The DTAC Streaming service will offer DTAC's mobile subscribers downloadable clips of music videos, and karaoke from Bakery Music (BMG) as well as movie previews.  Users can browse through the extensive selection of video content at the Djuice WAP portal (wap.djuice.co.th) under the Fun Plaza menu.  The content will be delivered over DTAC's Nokia GPRS/EDGE-ready network to DTAC subscribers' Nokia 3650 handsets.

"DTAC Streaming is a good demonstration of DTAC end-to-end cooperation with Nokia to provide the best innovative service to all of our 5.8 million customers across the country," said DTAC's Value-Added-Service Business Unit Director Pakorn Pannachet.

"We are expecting more to come from the DTAC-Nokia EASY Application Factory.  And when we experience exponential growth in our data traffic, DTAC has the option of implementing EDGE on its nationwide Nokia GSM/EDGE network, allowing customers to enjoy better quality of services," he added.

Kristian Strand, Account Director, Nokia Networks said, "We are proud to play a part in delivering DTAC's new life enrichment solution from the DTAC-Nokia EASY Application Factory.  As a nationwide offering, DTAC Streaming fully demonstrates the strengths and benefits of DTAC GPRS/EDGE-ready network powered by Nokia.  When higher bandwidths are needed by DTAC, Nokia will be able to switch on the EDGE network, which DTAC is currently trialling, allowing users to enjoy up to three times faster speeds."

DTAC Streaming is available nationwide to DTAC prepaid and postpaid subscribers with Nokia 3650 handset or other GPRS-enabled device with Real One player.  Subscription to the service will initially be free of charge and the normal GPRS traffic charges will apply.
