LOS ANGELES, July 22, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Maier & Company, Inc. today announced the establishment of its firm, specializing in corporate communications and investor relations.
"Over the past few years there has been considerable consolidation within the investor relations arena, with independent firms being acquired by large public relations organizations seeking to add this specialized expertise to their practices. The pendulum, however, appears to have shifted, supported by more favorable economics for independent firms and the elimination of hierarchical management structures that often span multiple continents," said Gary S. Maier, president of Maier & Company.

Maier, 50, is an investor relations veteran with nearly twenty years of industry experience. He was most recently senior vice president and principal of PondelWilkinson MS&L. He was a principal of PondelWilkinson Group, an independent Los Angeles-based investor relations and corporate communications firm, which was acquired by MS&L in 2001. Maier joined the predecessor firm, Pondel Parsons & Wilkinson in 1993, as senior vice president and was subsequently promoted to managing director and then principal. His career includes positions with Hill & Knowlton, Georgeson & Company and The Financial Relations Board. He served as Illinois deputy press secretary for Walter Mondale's 1984 presidential campaign.
Maier is a member of the National Investor Relations Institute. He serves as a vice president and member of the board of directors of Veterans Park Conservancy, a non-profit community public/private partnership dedicated to the enhancement and preservation of four hundred acres of public land in West Los Angeles established to honor our nation's veterans. He also serves on the board of the Colony Theater Company, located at the Burbank Media Center.
