EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Aug. 25, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Lorrie Murray, director of business management, Advanced Capabilities Development, for Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Integrated Systems sector, has been selected for Loyola Marymount University's (LMU) College of Science and Engineering Alumni Wall of Fame.
Murray was chosen for her successful career at Northrop Grumman and contributions to the university. Staying true to LMU's traditions, she has helped the school promote its mission of providing students with the best possible education and opportunities through her involvement with the Dean's Council. She has also helped Northrop Grumman recruit LMU engineering, mathematics and business administration graduates.
"I'm truly honored to receive this distinction from a university that has worked so hard to prepare its students to tackle present and future challenges," said Murray. "I hope to give back as much as I have received."
Murray joined Northrop Grumman shortly after graduating cum laude from LMU in 1976 with a bachelor of science in mathematics. She initially provided support requirements analysis for the company's F-5 and F/A-18 programs. Later, she served as pricing manager for the F-20, YF-23 and F/A-18 programs before transitioning to a technical role as manager of Engineering Administration and Planning.
In 1996, she was appointed business manager of Engineering, Technology and Advanced Programs for the former Military Aircraft Systems Division, now Air Combat Systems. In June 2003, she was named to her current position, where she develops business strategies and negotiates new business proposals for advanced systems and technology programs across the Integrated Systems sector.
The Wall of Fame recognizes LMU graduates who have distinguished themselves through their careers; contributions to science, mathematics or engineering; and/or community service. Since its establishment in 1999, the Wall has served to inspire students, faculty, staff and alumni by honoring outstanding alumni dating back to the 1950s.
Murray will be inducted Saturday, Oct. 18, during a ceremony at the LMU campus in Los Angeles.
