INROADS Honors Northrop Grumman with Corporate Plus Award


HERNDON, Va., Aug. 25, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- INROADS' Greater Baltimore/Washington Affiliate has named Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) this year's recipient of the INROADS Corporate Plus Award. This award is given annually to the corporation with the greatest commitment to the INROADS mission, which is to train and develop talented ethnically diverse students for corporate and community leadership.

INROADS and Northrop Grumman have a long-standing working relationship to bring ethnically diverse college students to Northrop Grumman. The company has hired interns at the company's various business units and headquarters locations.

"Attracting interns from a broad range of backgrounds goes hand-in-hand with Northrop Grumman's commitment to diversity and valuing differences in experience and opinions," said Jeffrey Shuman, vice president, Human Resources & Administration, Northrop Grumman Information Technology (IT). "Northrop Grumman's involvement with INROADS helps us build our future workforce by jumpstarting tomorrow's needs today."

At a recent ceremony, Shuman accepted the INROADS Corporate Plus Award on behalf of the corporation. Northrop Grumman was chosen based on the number of annual internship positions, quality of internships provided, financial and in-kind contributions, and number of interns hired full time upon graduation.

In addition to accepting the Corporate Plus award, Shuman was also honored with the INROADS Chair Award for 2003-2004.

The INROADS Chair Award is presented to a person who has been instrumental in assisting the local affiliate achieve the overall mission of the organization, has made significant contributions to the affiliate through leadership and vision, and has demonstrated a strong commitment to INROADS.

Christopher Chen, an intern with Northrop Grumman IT, received an INROADS Intern of the Year Award. The INROADS Intern of the Year awards recognize interns who have demonstrated a strong commitment to INROADS, his or her sponsor, school and community.
