EMS Technologies and LGP Allgon Settle Patent Litigation and Enter into License Agreement and Supplier Arrangements

ATLANTA and STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Oct. 20, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG) and Sweden-based LGP Allgon announced today that the two companies have settled the previously announced patent dispute concerning cellular and PCS base-station antennas. As part of the settlement, EMS has granted to LGP Allgon a non-exclusive worldwide license to manufacture and market wireless antenna products. In addition, LGP Allgon and EMS have entered into an agreement under which LGP Allgon's tower-mounted amplifier products will be available to EMS for integration with EMS's cellular and PCS base-station antennas in order to supply the market with integrated antenna amplifier products. Other terms of the arrangements were not disclosed.

Alfred G. Hansen, EMS president and chief executive officer, stated, "Over the years EMS has made major investments in developing cutting-edge technology, and this resolution of our litigation with LGP Allgon is an example of how we can benefit from these investments. Aside from the license terms, we expect these arrangements to bolster our wireless base-station antenna business because some of our largest customers are very interested in an integrated, easily installed unit that combines EMS Wireless's highly regarded antennas and LGP Allgon's top-of-the-line amplifiers."

Bengt Broman, LGP Allgon's chief executive officer, stated, "LGP Allgon is pleased to have solved this litigation and to increase our market share through the supply of amplifier products to EMS for the growing market for integrated antennas that have high-quality amplifiers pre-mounted and packaged as a single product. LGP Allgon is convinced that this concept will be an important factor in the further roll-out of high quality networks."
