Logitech launches Logitech io, a digital pen enabling Anoto functionality in the UK

LUND, Sweden, Nov. 11, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Logitech launches Logitech io in the UK, now incorporating new software with enhanced functionality and new handwriting conversion application. Logitech io will be sold as a package together with digital paper from 3M, Groupe Hamelin, John Dickinson and Filofax via the chain store PC World, starting November 2003. The estimated price is 150.00.

A starter pack contains a Logitech io, i.e. a digital pen with Anoto functionality, a USB docking station which also serves as a charger, digital 3M Post-it(R) notes and digital paper from Groupe Hamelin, John Dickinson and Filofax. It also comprises the new software 2.0 that facilitates functions such as editing, searching, organising, exporting and emailing handwritten notes, making it possible also to convert handwritten notes to regular digital text using the software MyScript Notes(R) provided by Vision Objects.

"Logitech continues to roll out its digital pen, and with the launch on the UK market yet another milestone is passed for establishment of Anoto functionality. We are convinced that the UK will soon be followed by other markets in Europe," says Orjan Johansson, President, Anoto Group AB.

"Logitech io turns handwriting into an effective tool for the digital world without changing the practical handling. We are convinced that the product which is now being launched is going be favourably received by mobile occupational groups as well as consumers looking for more efficient and creative ways of storing their notes," says Simon Leech, MD, Logitech UK.
