PHOENIX, Nov. 11, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Viastar Holdings Inc. (OTCBB:VISH) announced today that it has filled two key positions for its music group division. Jon Bergen joins the company as Director of Music Sales and Marketing and Shiva Baum will head up Artist Development and serve as Director of Radio Promotions.
Jon Bergen comes to Viastar to direct sales and marketing efforts for the company's four record labels, Viastar Records, Quadra Records, Light of the Spirit Records, and Viastar Classical. Mr. Bergen's extensive experience in retail music sales, strategic advertising, point of purchase, internet promotions and national product placement campaigns will be a key factor in implementing the company's sales initiatives for all of its music products. Mr. Bergen has successfully marketed music product to national and independent retailers, including Walmart, Musicland, Borders, Wherehouse, Tower Records and Virgin MegaStores.
Previously, Mr. Bergen worked for Mercury Records before serving as West Coast Director of Sales and Marketing Manager for BMG-distributed Beyond Records, where he promoted artists such as Blondie, Lucy Pearl and Motley Crue. Most recently, Mr. Bergen was National Sales Director for the Sony-distributed Gold Circle Records, promoting product from Meredith Brooks and Glenn Phillips.
Shiva Baum has successfully promoted numerous top ten singles for Bio Ritmo, Emer Kenny, and Vieux Diop, and will spearhead the company's in-house artist development and radio promotion efforts. Mr. Baum has executive-produced artists such as John Waite, Pat Benatar and Krishna Das as well as various artists and compilations for Gold Circle Records and Triloka/Mercury Records. His career as VP of A&R lead him to work with industry legends Rick Rubin, Thom Panunzio, Randy Staub, and Ed Thacker.
These hand-picked additions to the Viastar team have been brought on to develop new artists, create new marketing opportunities for the company's retail partners and substantially increase revenues through new music sales.
