Enter the Sanctuary of His Soul -- New Book of Poetry Invites Readers into Author's Personal World of Emotions

SHREVEPORT, La., November 19, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Poetry is often born from the darkest depths of the night, from the hollow yearning in the soul and from the moments when words seem insufficient to transform feelings. Author Jason Lammons breathes poetry. He exhales words in the shape of emotions and piercing thoughts. His new book, My Sanctuary (now available through 1stBooks), is a solemn collection of his poetry.

My Sanctuary is a journey through Lammons' life. Dedicated to his brother, Daniel Jonathan Lammons, who passed away in 2002, Lammons' book dives deep into his feelings of pain and loss. His poems are a vast landscape where his emotions frolic and fester. He molds his feelings like clay, rendering them into pieces of human experience tattooed onto white paper.

"The words in this book paint pictures of places seen and emotions felt. There are no holds barred, (I) have opened the door and asked (readers) to step inside, into my world. My Sanctuary is poetry flowing from heart and soul, confronting loss and death, love, lost love, pain, joy, awareness and deep spiritual experiences," Lammons says.

His poems range from lovelorn to soul searching. He tackles relationships and quiet moments when speech cannot penetrate the silence, as well as those times when no words are loud enough. In his poem "America's Halo," he addresses the trials of modern American society. "You've ripped the wings off of butterflies/ spilled the youth out of children's eyes/ cut the rope that we wanted to climb/ but your demon stare doesn't scare me/ In paradise you lit a fire/ called it hell, they believed you/ for a while."

Emotional and thought provoking, My Sanctuary opens the doors to Lammons' mind and soul, inviting everyone to peruse the experiences within.

"To leave these pages unturned would be to neglect yourself of an experience you deserve. The theater of the mind is the greatest of theaters and imagery in My Sanctuary would definitely start the film rolling in your theater," Lammons states.

Lammons began writing short stories, poems and songs when he was 13. My Sanctuary is his first book. He is also coeditor of the poetryzine, North of New Orleans. For more information, visit, www.redriverink.com .
