Sika expands in Japan

Sika AG, located in Baar, Switzerland will be taking over the construction chemicals business, with activities in Japan, of the Secaicho Group, located in Osaka, from June 1.

Sika is taking over a business with annual sales of approximately CHF 30 million, producing sealants for buildings. The core business consists of sealant technology based on 2-component polyurethanes and silicones. These are used particularly in the construction of facades for multistorey buildings.

The newly acquired business will be integrated in the local Japanese Sika company. This will open up new distribution channels in the Japanese market for Sika and also allow the Secaicho products access to new geographic markets, as Sika Japan already sells two-thirds of their own Sikaflex® sealants outside of Japan.

The acquisition still needs the approval of the district court in Osaka.
