E.ON Benelux Goes Live with KWI for Multi-Commodity Trading

HOUSTON, July 26, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- KWI, the leading provider of risk management and trading software for the global energy industry, today announced that E.ON Benelux, a leading power generator in the Netherlands, has successfully completed the first phase of its energy trading and risk management (ETRM) deployment. The company has replaced multiple in-house applications with KWI's market-proven kW3000 ETRM software platform to provide a centralized view of its complex multi-commodity energy portfolio, increase business performance and reduce its exposure to risk. The company plans to further upgrade its system in 2004.

Edward Sigar, chief commercial officer, E.ON Benelux, said, "We are delighted to have successfully implemented kW3000, as it now provides us with a single, end-to-end view of our complex energy portfolio. By optimising our generation portfolio, power sales and fuels procurement against the market, we can improve our efficiency and profitability."

In the first phase of the project, KWI's solution has become an integrated part of the network, which includes an enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, a scheduling system and an optimisation-simulation application. The company believes that the support and consulting services provided throughout the implementation highlighted KWI's commitment to delivering solutions that meet its customers' needs. E.ON Benelux will fine-tune its current system to maximize its capabilities before beginning the next phase of its program.

David Bucknall, chief executive officer, KWI, commented, "This successful implementation demonstrates KWI's ability to deliver innovative solutions to energy companies like E.ON Benelux, who have sophisticated multi-commodity portfolios. We are looking forward to upgrading their system in the future to K2 and together ensuring the company benefits from the most comprehensive energy trading and risk management solution."

K2 has evolved from extensive development of kW3000 functionality and technology, and is now setting the global standard for ETRM software. K2 is a suite of eight best-of-breed product components, which seamlessly integrate to meet the needs of front, middle and back office operations. The solution can be deployed as an integrated solution or as components alongside existing software solutions.
