EMS Technologies CEO Joins Board of Georgia Technology Authority

ATLANTA, July 26, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG) announced today that Alfred G. Hansen, president and CEO, has been named to serve on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Technology Authority (GTA), which was established by the Georgia General Assembly for the purpose of establishing better coordination of state technological resources and for promoting the usage and availability of on-line governmental services for the citizens of Georgia.

Hansen was appointed to the three-year board position by Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue.

The Georgia Technology Authority serves public interest by promoting and providing ready access to public state information for individual businesses and other governmental and non-governmental entities, by establishing policies and practices for more efficient procurement and management of state technological resources and setting policy initiatives for guidance in the use of technology by state and local governments to improve services, reduce costs, encourage technological compatibility and promote economic development in Georgia.

In his new position with GTA, Hansen will serve on the 12-member board for a term that will end July 1, 2007.

"I'm looking forward to Mr. Hansen's participation on the GTA Board of Directors," said Tom Wade, GTA Executive Director and State Chief Information Officer. "His knowledge and experience will be valuable to GTA and the state. The board makes important decisions about technology policy to improve government services, and I greatly appreciate his willingness to assist us."

"I am honored to serve GTA in its mission to make government more accessible and accountable through technology," said Hansen. "As CEO of a company founded in Georgia, I am pleased to help adopt policies that will facilitate sharing technology and information in state government."

Both EMS and Hansen play active roles in the Georgia technology community. Prior to joining EMS, Hansen was the Corporate Vice President of Lockheed Martin and Executive Vice President of Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems. He retired from the United States Air Force as a four-star General after thirty-seven years of service. Hansen is a member of the Gwinnett Technical College Foundation, Warner Robins Museum of Aviation Board, Junior Achievement Board, Chairman ROTC Arnold Air Society, Air Force Academy Foundation and the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce.
