Solar Power Experiencing Boom In San Diego County

 WHAT     San Diego Gas & Electric, San Diego Regional Energy Office
          and County Board Chairwoman Dianne Jacob will commemorate
          the explosive growth of solar power in San Diego by giving
          an award to the 1,500th net metering customer in the region.
          Net metering allows a customer to send electricity into the
          energy grid, and solar power produces its excess power
          during hot afternoons when energy is needed most.

 WHEN     10:30 a.m., Friday, August 13

 WHERE    2741 Alpine Blvd in Alpine. Take I-8 to the Tavern Road
          exit, and go right (south) at the end of the ramp. Take a
          left at the first stoplight onto Alpine Blvd. Go about two
          miles to California Baja Rent-A-Car on the right.

          Dave Geier and Terry Farrelly; San Diego Regional Energy
