The Island of Dragons and Adventure -- New Fantasy Book Tells of Shipwrecked Families' Magical Experience

BEATTY, Ore., March 8, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- A new fantasy story that stirs a magical brew of raging seas and colorful dragons, "The Isle of Angel's: It's About Dragons," (now available through AuthorHouse) by Colleen Haslup, tells of a world where humans interact with mystical creatures to survive and live joyous lives.

In the year 1360, King Bastwick dies and leaves his kingdom to the tyrannical Prince Taho. The new king imposes strict taxes on the people, so they band together and plot an escape by sea. After loading their families and belongings on board, they sail the ship "Bluebell" into the night. A monstrous storm destroys the ship, and the refugees struggle to survive in the open water.

When dragons come to pluck drowning people from the waves, the characters experience a new beginning. They make their new homes on an island where dragons the color of sunrises and sunsets live in the caves above the valley.

Adventure abounds in this isolated place. The men track a wizen, an ancient species of buffalo. Huge, friendly black spiders live here as well. They offer their webs for the people as ropes and nets. Then the Pak Tak Terns, giant black birds, arrive and scavenge for anything they can get, including spiders and small children. Luckily, the dragons are able to save the people from a gruesome fate. Later, when dragons practice breathing fire, they are injured and the people tend to them. Angel, the largest of the dragons, produces batches of eggs that bring new babies, an exciting experience for everyone on the island.

"The Isle of Angel's" is a mesmerizing journey into mystical lands that follows refugees from their lowest point to a thrilling existence among magical creatures.

Haslup is the mother of three children, grandmother of eight children and great grandmother of seven beautiful little ones. "The Isle of Angel's" is her first book.
