Heijmans pays Nma fines for groundworks and civil engineering sector

Heijmans has reserved a total sum of EUR 45 million for the financial settlement of the investigation into the building industry. The sanction orders now received are in line with the reports drawn up earlier by the NMa. Apart from the sanction now imposed for the groundworks and civil engineering sector, Heijmans still expects NMa fines relating to civil and public utilities and other sectors. In addition to this, Heijmans received a report last year from the European Commission containing a list of objections to activities on the bitumen market.

A new period has begun for the Dutch building industry. Numerous measures have been taken aimed at preventing tendering for work based on price-fixing agreements. Heijmans is pursuing a 'zero tolerance' policy in this matter. A new future requires a speedy settlement of the past. Heijmans view the payment of these fines as an important step towards putting its house in order. Heijmans will continue its efforts in this respect.
