EMS Wireless Announces $20.3 Million in New Orders and Highest Backlog Ever, Driven by Recent Upturn in Wireless Sector

ATLANTA, May 17, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS Wireless, the Performance Leader(TM) in RF Solutions, a division of EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG), announced today that the division has booked $20.3 million in new antenna orders in the months of March and April alone, the highest consecutive two-month order volume on record for EMS Wireless. In addition, the backlog swelled to an all-time record high of $12.2 million during April.

"Service providers have begun investing and upgrading their networks. These orders and record backlog reflect their renewed investment, and are a sign that the telecom industry appears to be rebounding," said Gerald Hickman, senior vice president and general manager of EMS Wireless.

The orders from multiple wireless carriers are predominantly for EMS Wireless's next-generation multi-band antenna product line used to build-out carriers' networks and to extend their coverage footprint and improve their service quality.

"In response to the increased order level in March and April, we have significantly increased our production capacity," Hickman noted. "We are known for our best-in-class lead times of approximately two weeks compared to the industry norm of eight-to-ten weeks, and intend to maintain that reputation."
