Photo Release -- U.S. Air Force Appoints Northrop Grumman's George Hull as a Member of the Scientific Advisory Board


MCLEAN, Va., Nov. 29, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) George B. Hull has been appointed to the U.S. Air Force Scientific Advisory Board, which provides advice and recommendations on critical science and engineering issues to the Air Force secretary and chief of staff.

The Scientific Advisory Board bridges the Air Force and the nation's scientific and engineering communities through the review and evaluation of Air Force research and development. The board is made up of 52 members from industry and academia.

The function of the board is to propose applications beneficial to the Air Force that can be derived from scientific and technical advancements, and to conduct studies recommended by Air Force leadership. Recent studies included topics such as networking to enable coalition operations, automatic target recognition, persistence at near-space altitudes and system-of-systems engineering.

George Hull is a principal engineer for the Northrop Grumman Information Technology (IT) sector's TASC business unit. In his advisory role, Hull will provide expertise in information sharing across secure networks, Internet protocol networking, information assurance, enterprise architecture, systems engineering and ground-force operations.

Hull retired from the U.S. Army in May 2005. His most recent assignment was with the Defense Information Systems Agency where he was chief engineer for strategic communications and chief engineer for multi-national information sharing. He also taught systems engineering at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and has served as an Army planner from division through theater levels.

One other Northrop Grumman employee currently serves on the board. John Brock, chief technologist at Northrop Grumman Space Technology, was appointed to the position in 2004.
