Two Free Performances Held May 10, 2006

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., May 4, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Fifth grade classes at Sonoran Sky Elementary School will once again perform "Sing, America, Sing," an historical timeline of American history from Christopher Columbus to present-day, set to acting, singing and dancing, on Wednesday, May 10, 2006.

This Broadway-style production, in its 11th year at the school, consists of authentic period costumes and professionally choreographed dance routines. "Sing, America, Sing" showcases many prominent American men and women, including: Patrick Henry; Thomas Jefferson; Francis Scott Key; Abraham Lincoln; Sojourner Truth; Susan B. Anthony; John F. Kennedy; Martin Luther King, Jr.; and George W. Bush. The show also brings to life the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001.

All performances are done by the fifth-graders, ages 9 to 11, many of whom have multiple dancing, singing and acting parts. "Sing, America, Sing," which is put together in just four weeks annually, is not only entertaining but educational as well, giving students, and the audience alike, a uniquely memorable presentation of several watershed moments that shaped our country. Additionally, American veterans from all branches of service are honored during the shows.

There will be two free presentations of "Sing, America, Sing" on Wednesday, May 10 at 9:15 a.m., and 6:30 p.m., held at Sonoran Sky Elementary School, 12990 N. 75th St, just east of Scottsdale Road and Sweetwater, behind the Jewish Community Center.
