Feintool has always been committed to environmental protection and industrial safety. Moreover, as the technology and market leader in its field it also has a duty as a role model. Consequently, Feintool not only sets the standards in quality management or apprentice training, it has always been a trailblazer as regards environmentally compatible metal and plastic disposal and recycling, and in the development of chlorine-free fineblanking lubricants.
Environmental policy at Feintool is closely linked to industrial safety and quality management and covers the entire range of complex production processes. Reviews are conducted at regular intervals, and there is an annual management review to ensure that the policy still achieves its purpose. Employees receive systematic training to encourage quality awareness. The ecological aspects of production and service processes are being constantly reappraised and improved. This ensures that resources are used as efficiently as possible and minimizes emissions. Alongside compliance with a raft of legislation, preventive safety is also a key area. Environmental criteria play an important role in the selection of partners and suppliers.
Under the leadership of Hans Gertsch, Head of Management Systems and Quality Assurance, Feintool's facilities in Lyss underwent a thorough examination. As a result, modifications were made where appropriate and the companies were prepared for certification to ISO 14001:2004. All four companies were audited by the Swiss Association for Quality and Management Systems over three days at the end of April. The successful outcome is testimony to the fact that environmental awareness is not only a formal part of the existing management system but is actively embraced in the daily work of the 350 people who work at Lyss.
