TASER Device Prevents Armed Attack on Police

According to news reports from Halifax, Canada's Chronicle Herald, a Dartmouth man who allegedly assaulted his girlfriend was arrested Friday after he came at police with a knife. Police responded to the 100 block of Albro Lake Road around 11 p.m. after receiving a call from a woman who claimed to have been attacked by her boyfriend. Arriving at the house, police saw the man flee into the bathroom and lock the door. Police broke down the door only to find the man with a knife to his throat. As two officers advanced toward him, the man came at the two with his knife, forcing one officer to shoot a TASER(r) device to subdue the man. No one was injured.

The man faces multiple charges including assault. Staff St. James Bulter of the Halifax Regional Police called it a "tense situation" and commended all involved for their "excellent work."
