TASER International Files Patent Infringement Lawsuit Against Bestex Company

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., June 12, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- TASER International, Inc. (Nasdaq:TASR), a market leader in advanced electronic control devices announced that it has filed litigation against Bestex Company, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California for patent infringement, false patent marking, unfair competition and breach of written contract. Bestex was originally granted a license under U.S. Patent No. 5,078,117, which license was cancelled by written agreement on June 25, 2002. On June 26, 2002 this patent was assigned to TASER International and Bestex has continued to market a product that infringes this patent. Bestex failed to take corrective action in response to letters sent by TASER International requesting they cease and desist from any further infringement.

"TASER International will aggressively pursue any infringers of our intellectual property," commented Douglas Klint, Vice President and General Counsel for TASER International. "The counterclaim Bestex has filed for unfair competition and false advertising is totally without merit and is a desperate attempt to obscure the merits of our complaint for patent infringement. All of our advertised claims are true and accurate. In response to this frivolous counterclaim, TASER International intends to file an amended complaint against Bestex including claims for defamation and trade libel," concluded Mr. Klint.
