TASER Technology Ends Rooftop Suicide Attempt

WASHINGTON, Aug. 29, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- TASER International, Inc. (Nasdaq:TASR), a market leader in advanced electronic control devices, released the following News Alert:

According to news reports from Ohio's Middletown Journal, a man distraught over a recent breakup with his girlfriend threatened to jump off the roof of his two-story home on Manitee Street Saturday night. Officers arrived at the home of Timothy Mullins around 10:30 p.m. to find him holding a beer and threatening to commit suicide by jumping off his roof. Mullins spoke with Officer Bobby Sparks through a window over the roof, explaining to Sparks that he intended to jump and would jump if Sparks came any closer. Attempts by officers to coax Mullins away from the edge by promising to contact his ex-girlfriend failed when Mullins broke free after Sparks tried to grab him in the center of the roof.

Officers were able to get the woman on a cellular phone and, placing the phone in the center of the roof, lured Mullins again away from the edge where Officer Mike Rosenbalm deployed his TASER device to subdue Mullins.

Mullins was transported to Middletown Regional Hospital where he will undergo evaluation.
