TASER Device Deployed to Prevent Shooting, Suicide

WASHINGTON, Sept. 7, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- TASER International, Inc. (Nasdaq:TASR), a market leader in advanced electronic control devices, released the following News Alert:

According to news reports from Montana's Great Falls Tribune, an unidentified man threatened to kill an officer Tuesday night if police did not kill him first. The Great Falls Police Department received a call just after 8 p.m. from an acquaintance of the man claiming him to be suicidal. When police arrived, the man begged to be shot or else threatened he would shoot the officer with the gun he said was in his pocket.

As the officer took cover and spoke with the gentleman, three backup officers began to set up behind the man on the 600 block of 13th Street North. Police then hit the man with a TASER device, rather than a bullet, to subdue him to be taken into custody.
