ATLANTA, Oct. 4, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Delta Air Lines today reported traffic results for September 2006(1,2). System traffic for September 2006 decreased 3.4 percent from September 2005 with a capacity decrease of 5.4 percent. Delta's system load factor was 74.6 percent in September 2006, up 1.5 points from the same period last year.
Domestic traffic in September 2006 decreased 12.2 percent year over year, and capacity decreased 14.3 percent. Domestic load factor in September 2006 was 73.5 percent, up 1.7 points from the same period a year ago. International traffic in September 2006 increased 21.6 percent year over year on a 21.6 percent increase in capacity. International load factor was 76.9 percent which was flat compared to September 2005.
During September 2006, Delta operated its schedule at a 98.3 percent completion rate compared to 96.4 percent in September 2005. Delta boarded 8.1 million passengers during the month of September 2006, a decrease of 9.8 percent from September 2005. Detailed traffic and capacity are attached.
