The company also announced the introduction of a new standard backing line
for its broadloom products, High PerformancePC, which contains
post-consumer recycled content from a sustainable derivative of the global
paper recycling industry. In the first application of this innovative new
technology in the carpet industry, mineral residuals are recovered from the
recycled waste paper process and incorporated into carpet backing. This
unique recovery process is environmentally friendly and the recovered
mineral composites are post consumer.
"Our goal has always been to design and manufacture products that were both
beautiful and environmentally sustainable. Receiving Sustainable Choice
Gold and California Gold certifications for our products is a significant
milestone for our company and an important step in our journey to
sustainability," said Anthony Minite, president of Bentley Prince Street.
"We hope this objective third-party certification will both help and
encourage the marketplace to identify and choose products that protect our
planet's natural resources. We encourage everyone to ask for the SCS
Sustainable Choice certification logo when they're specifying and choosing
carpet products."
