Help Keep AAA Texas' Roads Safe This Thanksgiving -- Don't Drink & Drive

AAA Texas Offers Free Tipsy Tow Service in Texas

HOUSTON, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 16, 2006 --AAA Texas is offering its free Tipsy Tow service to the public during the Thanksgiving holiday. The service is available from 6 PM on Wednesday, November 22nd until 11:59 PM, Sunday, November 26th.

The Tipsy Tow program, now in its 20th year, is designed to provide drivers with a way to get home safely if they have been drinking. The first ten miles are free to the public. AAA membership is not required to utilize the service.

"With so many options available, there is no excuse for anyone to drink and drive," says Rose Rougeau, AAA Texas spokeswoman. "Anyone who has had a drink can call a sober friend or family member, designate a driver or use a service such as Tipsy Tow."

Anyone requesting Tipsy Tow may call the toll-free number at 1-800-AAA-HELP or 1-800-222-4357. The service is provided free of charge within a 10-mile radius from the pickup point, and is restricted to a one-way ride home. The vehicle is towed and up to two people can ride with the tow truck driver.

"Thanksgiving is the busiest travel holiday of the year. We encourage everyone to help make it one of the safest this year," added Rougeau.

Tipsy Tow is a public service offered by AAA Texas throughout the state of Texas.
