Vaughan Public Libraries Is the First Library System in Canada to Offer Videos Users Can Download, Free, to Their PC, or PDA!

"This service is part of our newly launched digital media collection, which is available 24/7 to anyone with a Vaughan Public Library card and Internet access, from anywhere in the world! Videos, eBooks and eAudio Books you watch, read or listen to can all be easily downloaded from our eLibrary at www.vaughanpl.info onto a personal computer, PDA or MP3 player. Our users will be able to make more use out of their library than ever before!" Opening with a selection of several hundred titles, VPL's new digital media collection is easy to use and offers something for everyone. Library customers are able to install free software, then download Videos, eBooks or eAudio Books. The Video collection offers videos on a variety of interesting topics, documentaries and biographies. eBooks and eAudio books available include adult and junior fiction and non fiction titles with a range of books from "Dr. Phil" to "Berenstein Bears" to "Estate Planning Basics!" Borrowing from the digital collection eliminates late fees through an automatic return feature. At the end of the lending period the item automatically 'expires.' "The customers of Vaughan Public Libraries look to us for the newest technology and this is another example of meeting that need," said Bonanno. "Currently, we offer wireless technology at Pierre Berton Resource Library, Bathurst Clark Resource Library, Maple Library, Dufferin Clark Library, Ansley Grove Library and Woodbridge Library. Now by adding the delivery of this service to enable customers to download Videos, eAudio books and eBooks, for free, VPL continues to be on the forefront of library service."
