Hampton Public Library Extends Collection With Digital Media
Patrons Can Check Out and Download Popular Audio Books and eBooks From Home

HAMPTON, VA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- December 12, 2006 -- Imagine listening to Dan Brown's best selling
novel "The Da Vinci Code" while relaxing on the beach, driving in the car,
or working in the office. Imagination just became reality for Hampton
Public Library patrons who now have 24/7 access to an online digital
collection, http://hampton.lib.overdrive.com, of popular audio books and
eBooks.
The technology is provided by OverDrive, Inc., a leading provider of
digital media. It is free for library patrons, easy to use, and accessible
anytime, anywhere. Users simply log onto the digital site, install the free
software, browse a dynamic collection of audio books and eBooks from top
publishers like Time Warner, Books on Tape, HarperCollins, and Brilliance
Audio, then check out and download titles to a personal computer. Audio
books are delivered in the Windows® Media format and can be enjoyed on a
PC or transferred to a supported portable MP3 player in just three easy
steps using the OverDrive Media Console Transfer Wizard. Select titles can
even be burned to CD to listen in the car or on any standard CD player.
Patrons now have the ability to enjoy best selling audio books like "Angels
Fall" by Nora Roberts, "French Women Don't Get Fat" by Mireille Guiliano,
"5th Horseman" by James Patterson, "The World is Flat" by Thomas Friedman,

Also available in the digital collection is the familiar Adobe® PDF

and recreation. Digital eBooks can be read directly on the patron's
computer or transferred to a PDA, PocketPC, or Smartphone.
Digital titles are automatically returned at the end of the 14-day lending
period and will expire from the patron's PC. With convenient automatic
check-in, patrons will never accrue late fees.
