Lee Technologies Awarded Major Contract for CyrusOne's Houston Data Center Expansion
New Data Center to Be the Most Advanced IT Facility in Houston
| Source: Lee Technologies
FAIRFAX, VA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 6, 2007 -- Lee Technologies, Inc.
(http://www.leetechnologies.com), a leading provider of solutions which
enable commercial enterprises and public sector agencies nationwide to
avoid disaster and mitigate risk to their IT infrastructures, today
announced that CyrusOne, Houston's largest IT services and colocation
company, has selected Lee Technologies to build-out the expansion of its
60,000 square foot Tier 4 enterprise data center. Located within CyrusOne's
technology campus, the new high-density facility is designed from the
ground-up to provide 250 watts of power per square foot to support the
demands of the power-hungry blade servers.
"We're proud to be chosen as a key strategic asset to CyrusOne in building
the expansion of their state-of-the-art enterprise data center," said
George Newstrom President and COO of Lee Technologies. "This win epitomizes
our core strategic growth initiatives of aggressively expanding our
business outside of the Mid-Atlantic region and offering a robust set of
value added services to continually meet our customers' business
objectives, while further validating our strength and expertise in
delivering end-to-end infrastructure solutions for mission-critical
facilities nationwide. Our infrastructure experts in Houston will ensure
that CyrusOne's power systems are of the highest caliber to mitigate any
unforeseen power anomalies and to keep the data center fully operational
24x7x365 no matter the weather, state of the electricity grid or even,
human error."
"The increased demand for high availability and dense computing enterprise
data centers has never been stronger. This is due mainly to the low upfront
ownership, advanced capacity in storage and flexibility of adding
components to blade servers," said Dave Ferdman, President and CEO,
CyrusOne. "Our new data center is a major step in our commitment to provide
customers with scalable, cost-effective, forward-looking solutions. We're
very pleased that we have Lee Technologies' expertise to design and build
the critical electrical infrastructure of our new center."
According to Nemertes Research, companies are finding they need to bring in
more servers to support a growing demand; however this effects power, heat
and cooling -- issues that are becoming increasingly important in designing
today's data centers.
"This is a very exciting project. We're essentially taking a warehouse and
converting it to one of the most sophisticated data centers in Houston,"
said Project Design Engineer, Chuck Prichard, President and owner of
Prichard Consulting. "Over 35,000 volts of power will be delivered to the
site to meet capacity requirements. However, the proper integration,
installation and ongoing maintenance of the site's critical systems is the
key element that will drive the project's success. I am very pleased to
work with the experts at Lee Technologies to help ensure that CyrusOne's
clients' uptime demands are met."
