Northrop Grumman Receives New York Engineering Company of the Year Award


UTICA, N.Y., Feb. 12, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) today announced it has been named the Engineering Company of the Year for 2006 from the Mohawk Valley, N.Y., Engineers Executive Council.

The Engineering Company of the Year award is presented to an engineering firm that has made significant contributions to new or innovative products, processing technologies, or productivity that results in enhanced local business.

"Northrop Grumman's selection for this award recognizes our commitment to the growth of Mohawk Valley and to developing advanced solutions and industry best practices that contribute to customer success," said Wood Parker, president of Northrop Grumman Information Technology's (IT) Intelligence group.

At its location in New Hartford, N.Y., Northrop Grumman's IT sector developed the Joint Capability for Airborne Networking (JCAN). JCAN is currently deployed onboard the Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System aircraft in support of communications among U.S. Air Force and Army personnel deployed in the Middle East. It is also being evaluated for other Air Force and U.S. Navy aircraft.

In addition to providing communications support for our warfighters, JCAN is being exercised as a tool to support border patrol and law enforcement agencies.

Northrop Grumman will receive the award during the Mohawk Valley Engineers Executive Council's 57th Annual Engineers Award Banquet, held at the Radisson Hotel in Utica, N.Y., on Feb. 15, 2007.
