NEW YORK, Feb. 13, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The Direct Marketing Association (DMA) Circulation Council named Liberta Abbondante, vice president of circulation marketing for Dow Jones & Company, into its Circulation Hall of Fame. The award was presented to Ms. Abbondante at the DMA's 21st Annual Circulation Day at the New York Marriott Marquis on February 7.
The Hall of Fame Award recognizes professionals in the field who have made significant contributions to the circulation industry through professional achievement, breakthroughs, creativity and community involvement.
"Liberta has championed many innovative programs that bucked all industry trends and increased individually paid subscribers for the Journal by nearly 10% -- our biggest gain since 1980," said Ann Marks, chief marketing officer for Dow Jones & Company. "The lifetime achievement award from the DMA is a great honor and a crowning achievement for Liberta, recognizing her very successful career and accomplishments."
In her current role, Ms. Abbondante is responsible for managing The Wall Street Journal's 1.7 million daily circulation, Barron's 300,000 weekly circulation and nearly 900,000 customers to WSJ.com and Barron's Online. She has brought strong leadership to the circulation marketing team while providing ongoing direction and professional guidance.
Prior to her current station, she was vice-president of circulation for Reed Elsevier where she was responsible for subscription marketing and sales activities for nearly 300 medical journals.
Ms. Abbondante began her publishing career at Macfadden Publishing, as the vice president of Circulation for Forbes Inc. where she was responsible for all subscription and retail sales activities for Forbes magazine, Forbes Global, American Heritage Magazine Group, and the Forbes Investment Newsletters.
Additionally, Ms. Abbondante has held posts at EMAP-Petersen, where as the president of Consumer Marketing she was responsible for the circulation activities of more than 160 special interest publications including the launch of FHM magazine and the integration of several major publishing acquisitions. She also worked at The Smithsonian where she served as the circulation director for Smithsonian and Air & Space magazines.
