Wireless LAN Sales Surpass $3.6 Billion in 2006

2006 Enterprise & SOHO/Home Markets Grow by 15%

RENO, NV -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 16, 2007 -- According to the latest published report by Synergy Research Group, the worldwide Wireless LAN market was flat sequentially and was up 15 percent year-over-year.

Consumer WLAN Equipment dipped one percent while Enterprise class WLAN equipment sales inched up one percent. Further, the report shows that the Consumer WLAN segment represented 58 percent of the total WLAN market.

"As anticipated, sales of Enterprise WLAN equipment experienced healthy growth in 2006. This growth is attributable to dramatic sales increases of centralized solutions, which now represent 45% of the enterprise WLAN infrastructure opportunity compared to 30% in 2005," said Aaron Vance, Senior Analyst at Synergy Research Group. "In the consumer or SOHO/Home segment, equally remarkable growth continued to be driven by sales of 802.11g devices as well as the introduction of new product types, such as Draft 802.11n and multimedia products."
