Oy Metsä-Botnia Ab's Russian subsidiary Svir Timber has acquired the Russian timber harvesting companies ZAO Petrovles-Pasha and ZAO Petrovles-Podporozhie. The acquisitions will strengthen wood raw material supplies for Svir Timber's sawmill and lend support to Botnia's long-range strategy in Russia. The timber harvesting companies are based in the Volkhovsky and Podporozhje areas of Leningrad province. Together, the two companies employ around 140 people. Svir Timber's Vice President Mikhail Bagryantsev has been appointed President of both companies.
