Straumborg ehf., a company financially related to Brynja
Halldórsdóttir, a board member of Kaupthing Bank hf., has today, 14
March 2007, closed a forward contract on the purchase of 500,000
shares in the bank. The company took over this contract on 29
December 2006, cf. announcement to the Iceland Stock Exchange of that
date. The maturity date of the contract was 10 January but the
contract was extended on that date until 8 May 2007.  The contract
was closed at a price of ISK 874.44 per share.

Brynja Halldórsdóttir owns 9,206 shares in the Bank. Parties
financially related to Brynja Halldórsdóttir own 14,729,548 shares in
the Bank following the transaction. Following the transactions
parties financially related to Brynja Halldórsdóttir own 4,200,000
shares in the Bank according to forward contracts.
