ORLANDO, FL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 19, 2007 -- GARTNER Portals, Content & Collaboration Summit
-- SiteScape, Inc. of Maynard, MA, the premier provider of secure web-based
workflow and collaboration solutions, today announced ICEcorps™, the
first Open Source collaboration suite that unifies team workspaces and
real-time conferencing. ICEcorps combines flexible real-time tools and
enterprise social software to deliver an innovative application with the
reliability, scalability and support available only from a proven software
company that has been providing successful collaboration applications for
more than 12 years.
"ICEcorps gives knowledge workers an instant way to locate information
critical to their jobs, access expertise, collaborate with team members,
share documents, and gain visibility into team-wide activities -- all using
familiar social software tools and techniques," said SiteScape CEO and
Chairman, Brian Hays. "We're confident that ICEcorps offers a compelling
value proposition for customers and partners seeking integrated team
workspaces and real-time conferencing built on an Open Source model that
provides low acquisition costs and speed of innovation."
ICEcorps brings together a broad range of web workspace and collaboration
tools to meet personal, team and organization needs. It enables team
members to communicate based on presence through any combination of phones,
IM, chat, SMS, or email, and to meet anywhere, at anytime using voice and
web conferencing and real-time sharing of documents. Users can create
content through web forms, blogs, wikis, edit-in-place of files, recordings
of meetings, and dragging of files from their disk drive -- all in a format
that can be easily changed to suit personal preferences. In addition,
ICEcorps enables effective management of even the most complex business
processes -- without programming -- using a flexible workflow engine.
Virtual folders can be created through saved searches.
Novell has introduced two products -- Novell Teaming and Novell Teaming +
Conferencing -- that are based on ICEcorps, and is previewing the
collaboration software today at its 2007 BrainShare conference in Salt Lake
City. "Novell conducted a thorough evaluation of collaboration vendors and
concluded that SiteScape has the market's most innovative technology," said
Kent Erickson, Vice President and General Manager of Novell Workgroup
Solutions. "Novell Teaming + Conferencing will be a valuable complement to
the Novell Open Workgroup Suite, enabling us to deliver a more complete,
open, and cost-effective workgroup productivity solution from desktop to
server. We've already identified a number of customers who are excited to
beta test Novell Teaming + Conferencing within their organizations."
A recent Gartner report* stated, "Enterprise social software will be the
biggest new workplace technology success story of this decade. 30% of
enterprises will openly sponsor internal MySpace-like social sharing spaces
to help employees find others with similar interests, skills, backgrounds
and experiences. These social sites will be businesslike but not restricted
to business. Together with improved search tools, these personal home pages
on the intranet will facilitate expertise location and communication, and
improve bonding between employees."
Scheduled for availability in the summer of, 2007 using an Open Source
licensing model, ICEcorps will be offered in a range of packages and
options, including:
-- Core Open Source versions -- ICEcorps ST asynchronous team workspace
suite and ICEcorps ZX team workspace suite with real-time voice and web
conferencing
-- Scalable, enterprise-class versions -- ICEcorps Enterprise ST
