Global Locate Files Complaint Against SiRF in the ITC


SAN JOSE, Calif., April 2, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Global Locate, Inc. will file a complaint today with the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) in Washington, D.C. against SiRF Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq:SIRF) and four of its customers: E-TEN Corporation ("E-TEN"), Pharos Science & Applications, Inc. ("Pharos"), MiTAC International Corporation ("MiTAC"), and Mio Technology Limited, USA ("Mio"). The complaint alleges that certain SiRF GPS devices and the products and of E-TEN, Pharos, MiTAC and Mio containing SiRF's GPS devices infringe six (6) patents concerning GPS devices and methods and systems for using such devices. Global Locate patents 6,651,000 and 7,158,080 relate to Global Locate's Long Term Orbit (LTO) technology. Global Locate patents 6,417,801, 6,937,187 and 6,704,651 relate to algorithms for achieving fast fixes using only coarse time assistance and for enhancing receiver sensitivity. Global Locate patent 6,606,346 relates to an architecture for efficient parallel correlation in a GPS receiver.

The complaint requests that the ITC institute an immediate investigation of the accused products and issue exclusion and cease and desist orders prohibiting the importation into the United States of the accused SiRF devices and products that contain them.

In related news, on April 2, 2007, Global Locate will respond to SiRF's complaint against Global Locate in the ITC (Investigation No. 337-TA-596). Global Locate believes that SiRF's claims are merely a reaction to Global Locate's continued market successes and that SiRF's case lacks merit and will fail.
