Microsemi Presenting Two Papers at Aircraft Technology Exposition

IRVINE, Calif., April 3, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Microsemi Corporation (Nasdaq:MSCC) a leading manufacturer of high performance analog mixed signal integrated circuits and high reliability semiconductors, has announced that it will be making two technical presentations during the new Aircraft Electrical and Electronic Systems Expo being held April 17-19 as part of the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2007 in Hamburg, Germany.

One will discuss how to choose proper transient voltage suppression devices to protect aircraft circuitry from lightning strikes. The second addresses the use of advanced materials in low profile power modules to enhance reliability and performance while reducing size and weight in aircraft applications.

The basis of the lightning protection presentation by Tracy Autry, Microsemi Protection Modules Development Manager, is the RTCA/DO-160E aircraft lightning threat specification that defines specific electrical waveforms and threat levels requiring transient voltage suppression. He will explain the most effective protection at each threat level. Microsemi is a leading supplier of lightning protection devices for commercial and defense aircraft.

The low profile power modules presentation will focus on reducing parasitic resistances and inductances for minimum voltage overshoot and best operating safety margins; and the use of state-of-the-art assembly materials for reducing mechanical stress in module assembly to extend device life and reduce weight. Serge Bontemps, Development Director, Microsemi Power Products Group, will describe the latest packaging techniques that extend power module operating temperatures and reliability.

Microsemi also will participate as an exhibitor. More than 500 exhibitors are expected at this year's Aircraft Interiors Expo. The Microsemi Stand number 9UA17 is located on the upper tier of Hall 9 in the Hamburg Messe's new facilities.
