AAA Texas: Weekend Gas Watch

IRVING, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 20, 2007 -- The statewide average price for self-serve regular gasoline continued moving higher for the eleventh consecutive week, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.

El Paso jumped eight cents to $2.85 a gallon -- the highest gas average on the list. Corpus Christi has the lowest average on the survey at $2.68 a gallon.

"Motorists are expressing concerns about the possibility of regular gasoline averaging $3 a gallon," said AAA Texas spokeswoman Rose Rougeau. "The volatility associated with supply and demand, world events and profit-taking in the market place make it impossible to know whether prices will continue to go up or will start coming down. Motorists can help contain their own fuel costs by keeping vehicles maintained, combining trips for errands, carpooling and using public transit if available."

The national average is $2.867 a gallon -- up six cents. AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline in Texas.
