| Source: Daxor Corp.
NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 25, 2007 -- Daxor Corporation (AMEX : DXR ), a medical
instrumentation and biotechnology company, today announced the receipt of a
signed trial agreement from Union Hospital of Elkton, Maryland.
Since 1908, Union Hospital has provided quality health and wellness
services to residents in Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania. As a
121-bed state-of-the-art not-for-profit hospital, Union Hospital is the
leading provider in the areas of inpatient, outpatient and emergency
services, a comprehensive health education program and a team that includes
about 260 physicians and 900 staff members. With the recent addition of
its new inpatient tower, renovations to the pediatric unit and an expanded
intensive care unit for patients needing specialized care, Union Hospital
continues to demonstrate its commitment to ensuring high quality
state-of-the-art health care.
Daxor's Blood Volume Analyzer BVA-100 will be located within Union
Hospital's Nuclear Medicine Department, and will be utilized to diagnose
patient blood volume derangements in various medical conditions and disease
states.
Published medical articles have shown that current practices to clinically
assess a heart failure patient's intravascular blood volume without a blood
volume measurement are only accurate 50% of the time. The treatment of a
heart failure patient's intravascular blood volume to euvolemia
(normovolemia) is of primary importance according to the most recent Heart
Failure Guidelines. In one two-year study, patients who were treated to
euvolemia had a 100% survival rate, versus a 55% death rate (or need for
urgent transplant) in patients who were not treated to euvolemia. In the
intensive care unit, clinical investigations have shown that the
integration of blood volume measurements changed fluid and transfusion
management in 36% of the cases. Daxor's Blood Volume Analyzer BVA-100 is
the only FDA approved diagnostic device which provides for a 98% accurate
measurement of blood volume.
Other nationally renowned hospitals which have purchased the BVA-100 Blood
Volume Analyzer after using it on a clinical trial basis are The Mayo
Clinic, The Cleveland Clinic, and New York University Medical Center.
Daxor Corporation manufactures and markets the BVA-100, a semi-automated
Blood Volume Analyzer. The BVA-100 is used in conjunction with Volumex,
Daxor's single use diagnostic kit. For more information regarding Daxor
