Multimax Wins $25 Million Task Order for NETCENTS Work at Eglin Air Force Base
Company to Provide a Highly Survivable, Fiber Optic Cable Infrastructure for Network Previously Destroyed by Hurricanes
HERNDON, VA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 25, 2007 -- Multimax, Inc. -- one of the premier resources
for performance-based enterprise information technology (IT) and
communications services for Department of Defense (DoD) and civilian
agencies -- announced today it has been awarded a task order to provide a
highly survivable fiber optic cable infrastructure on Santa Rosa Island, an
Eglin Air Force Base (AFB) facility off the coast of Florida. The task
order, valued at $25 million, was issued through the Air Force Network
Centric Solutions (NETCENTS) contract vehicle.
Under the task order, Multimax and its NETCENTS team partner, MTC
Technologies, Inc. (MTC), will rebuild and strengthen a 12-mile long, fiber
optic cable network that has been repeatedly damaged by hurricane winds and
storm surges. The project will provide a hurricane-resistant fiber optic
cable system capable of withstanding a storm surge and overwash of 19 feet
or greater. Santa Rosa Island is home to the Range Information Grid (RIG),
which supports a broad spectrum of weapons research, testing, development,
and other programs at Eglin AFB.
"Multimax is proud to have been selected to rebuild the mission-critical
cable networks on Santa Rosa Island," said Carleton Jones, Multimax CEO.
"The weapons development work conducted by the RIG -- and the fiber optic
cable that facilitates it -- are critical to supporting the warfighter.
Given Santa Rosa Island's proximity to the shoreline, it is essential that
this key cable network be properly repaired and reinforced to withstand
future damage from hurricanes and storm surges. We are honored that
Multimax and MTC have been selected for this important work. We pledge to
continue on this engagement our unmatched record of success working with
NETCENTS customers."
NETCENTS is a five-year, $9 billion acquisition initiative to provide the
Air Force, DoD, and other federal agencies with a complete range of IT,
networking, telephony, and security services and solutions.
