Cooley Expands Real Estate Practice in Northern California
SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - June 7, 2007) - Cooley Godward Kronish LLP announced
today that Manuel "Manny" Fishman has joined the Firm as a partner in its
real estate practice group. He joins Cooley from the San Francisco office
of Stoel Rives where he was a partner.
Fishman's practice focuses on office and industrial leasing, secured
lending, the acquisition and sale of commercial properties and the
interface between landline and wireless telecommunications and
Internet-based services with commercial real estate. In addition to being
listed in The Best Lawyers In America, Fishman has been active with the
Building Owners and Managers Association of San Francisco and with the
Executive Committee of the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of
California. He is also a regular lecturer on real property issues.
"Manny is a highly skilled attorney with deep real estate expertise. We are
delighted that he will be joining the Cooley real estate team," said Tom
O'Connor, the New York-based chair of the Firm's real estate group. "His
addition demonstrates Cooley's commitment to maintaining a premiere
national real estate practice with a strong presence in Northern
California."
Cooley's real estate practice is global in scope. Recently, in addition to
advising on the lease agreement for one of the largest real estate
developments in the Western U.S., Cooley also advised a major investment
fund in one of the largest acquisitions of a resort property in Caribbean
lodging history.
"I'm extremely pleased to have the opportunity to join Cooley and its
growing real estate practice," said Fishman. "We look forward to expanding
further Cooley's real estate practice in California and building on the
tremendous momentum in the practice in New York and Northern Virginia."
Fishman began his career in 1982 as an associate with Pillsbury Madison &
Sutro (now Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman) and was special counsel at
O'Melveny & Meyers. Prior to joining Stoel Rives he was a partner at
Bartko, Zankel, Tarrant & Miller.
Fishman earned a B.A. from the State University of New York, College at
Purchase, in 1975 and earned his law degree from Santa Clara University
School of Law in 1982, where he was a Comments Editor of the Santa Clara
Law Review.
