Cisco Unveils Universal Edge QAM Solution
Enables Maximum Spectrum Efficiency and Rapid Expansion of Video On-Demand, Switched Digital Video and High-Speed Data Services
| Source: Cisco Systems, Inc.
SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - June 13, 2007) - Cisco (NASDAQ : CSCO ) today announced the first
of a new Cisco® RF Gateway (RFGW) Series of Universal Edge QAM (U-EQAM)
products, providing cable operators an unprecedented level of performance,
functionality, reliability and choice as they deploy expanded video on
demand (VOD), switched digital video (SDV) and high-speed data (HSD)
services, and deliver the Connected Life to their subscribers.
"The new Cisco RF Gateway Series combines the best of Cisco's IP and DOCSIS
technology leadership and Scientific Atlanta's video delivery leadership,"
said Dean Rockwell, vice president and general manager, Digital Media
Networks at Scientific Atlanta, a Cisco company. "The Cisco RF Gateway
Series extends our fourth-generation of QAM technology with Switched
Digital Video support, higher density, improved reliability, 1GHz RF output
and DOCSIS® 3.0/M-CMTS™ capability."
The Cisco RF Gateway Series products are fully integrated and tested as
part of the Scientific Atlanta® Digital Broadband Delivery System (DBDS)
and the Cisco Modular CMTS (M-CMTS) solution, thereby accelerating the
deployment and easing the management of digital video and DOCSIS services.
The Cisco RF Gateway Series helps enable the converged next generation
cable access network by offering comprehensive video and DOCSIS functions
in a single U-EQAM platform.
The Cisco RF Gateway 1, the first product offering from the Cisco RF
Gateway Series, delivers up to 48 QAM channels in a compact 1RU chassis
with redundancy options to expand system availability. Frequency agile up
to 1 GHz, the modular design supports eight QAM channels per
field-replaceable RF module, with four QAM channels per RF output port, to
provide flexibility for expanding digital video and DOCSIS networks in
small or large increments. View the Cisco RF Gateway 1 here.
The Cisco RF Gateway 1 will be on display at the Cisco booth 865, SCTE
Cable-Tec EXPO 2007, June 20-22 at the Orange County Convention Center.
