Pump Prices Ease for 4th of July Holiday

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - June 29, 2007) - Pump prices in Texas continue to ease for the fifth week in a row as motorists gear up for the 4th of July holiday, according to AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.

Retail prices of regular grade gasoline average $2.88 per gallon in Texas. That is three cents less than last week's average.

El Paso has the state's highest average retail price for regular gasoline at $3.09 per gallon -- down five cents. Corpus Christi has the lowest average price of $2.74 per gallon, a weekly drop of four cents.

"In Texas, holiday travel is expected to be about the same as last year with an estimated 3.4 million projected to travel," said Rose Rougeau, spokeswoman for AAA Texas. "Current fuel prices are almost ten cents higher per gallon compared to 2006 averages."

The national average fell two cents to $2.98 a gallon.
